CALIFORNIA FAIR PLAN ASSOCIATION

CALIFORNIA INSURANCE GUARANTEE ASSOCIATION

CIGA, an insurance industry organization, guarantees insurance consumers will not suffer heavy financial losses should an insurance company fail. Under CIGA procedures, the unpaid claims and return premiums owed to policyholders or claimants of a defunct insurance company are paid for by solvent California insurers through an assessment based on each company's percentage of total premium volume.
